Bergen Freeholders Pass Resolution Supporting

April 17, 2008

On Wednesday, April 16, the Bergen County Board of Chosen Freeholders unanimously passed a resolution endorsing HR676 - “United States National Health Insurance Act”. The resolution was heard by the Freeholder Board due to the organizing efforts of the Bergen CLC Retiree Committee.

Currently in the United the States there are over 47 million people in America without health insurance – including 1.3 million uninsured in New Jersey. HR676 establishes a unique American national universal health insurance program. The bill would create a publicly financed, privately delivered health care system that uses the already existing Medicare program by expanding and improving it to all U.S. residents, and all residents living in U.S. territories.
